Play Safe Weekend 27th / 28th Sept

Play Safe weekend is schedule for games being played over the weekend of the 27th / 28th September. As Brackley are away to Solihull Moors that weekend, we are planning to show case Play Safe in the program notes against Man United U21s on the 16th and again against Sutton Utd the following Saturday 20th Sept.

What is Play Safe:

Play Safe is a year-round campaign that champions the importance of safeguarding in football. It encourages leagues and clubs at every level of the game to play their part in making the game ever safer, fun, and enjoyable for everyone, everywhere, every time.

Small Talk is Bigger Than You Think:

For Play Safe 2025, we’re asking adults in football to give young people a voice. To create open conversations, ask questions, and actively listen to children. When children have space to talk, they feel. safe to share. Small but vital moments build trust in the long run.

Our Aim:

The aim is to promote safeguarding throughout football, starting at Grassroots level to our senior teams up and down the country. Banny is working on having an activity for the Kids at half time and including our mascot, Sammy the Saint, and a surprise visitor from Northampton (not yet confirmed). We have also managed to obtain some Pin Badges and some other items to promote Play Safe. We would like the entire club to support such an important message, this year’s statement:

Either Banny or I can help with any further information.

Brackley Town Girls and Ladies - HGT Partnership

In June 2024 we partnered with Her Game Too with Becky Adams becoming a Her Game Too Ambassador for the club. This coming season we have furthered that partnership with the addition of a Her Game Too sleeve patch to all of our female players kits!

Founded in May 2021, Her Game Too is a passionate movement dedicated to tackling sexism and promoting gender equality within the world of sport. Recognising the pervasive challenges faced by women and girls in sport, Her Game Too strives to create an inclusive environment where everyone, regardless of gender, can enjoy and participate in sports without fear of discrimination or harassment.

Led by fans, supported by clubs and backed by partners, they are striving to be a catalyst for positive change. It believes in equality, integrity and empowerment and see value in everyone.

Her Game Too already have official partnerships with 75 of the 92 clubs (top 4 divisions) and over 250 grassroots clubs, and are passionate in wanting women and girls of all ages to feel confident sharing their opinion about football both online and in real life without fear of sexist abuse.

The club has a female fan base and an incredible ladies and girls section which continues to grow so we are incredibly excited to further this partnership by adding a Her Game Too sleeve patch on all of our female players' new Adidas kits.

At Brackley Town, it is important that every member of our girls and ladies teams not only enjoys playing for the club but feels comfortable in doing so. Seeing the whole section wearing the HGT badge on their sleeve makes us proud to not only support the organisation but spread awareness of what we and they stand for.

For more information regarding Her Game Too, please visit https://www.hergametoo.co.uk or follow them on X @HerGameToo.

A huge thank you to Rio Workwear Solutions Ltd who printed all of the HGT patches on to the kits!

CUP FINAL WIN FOR BRACKLEY TOWN LADIES.

Brackley Town Ladies grabbed the first opportunity for them to secure silverware this season with a hard-fought victory over Long Buckby last night in the NTFA Cup Final.

Long Buckby, having won the NWGLF first division came out of the blocks strongly in the first few minutes, but it was Brackley Ladies who took the lead in the 6th minute.

A cross from Kerry Stapleton was only cleared to the edge of the area, where Emily Horring struck into the top left corner to give the Saints the lead. Brackley took control and dominated possession but were unable to increase their lead despite plenty of shots. Long Buckby then struck back in the 31st against the run of play. A free kick on the left found its way through and into the net, making it 1-1 at the break.

The second half continued in much the same fashion as the first, with Brackley dominating possession but no end result. With 5 minutes remaining, substitute Holly Springate made a darting run, beating several players only to see her left foot shot bounce off the inside of the post and back out across the face of goal away to safety.

Full Time 1-1 and straight to penalties.

The shoot out was a tense affair, but Brackley goalkeeper Robyn Tillyer became the hero, saving one Long Buckby penalty, with three missing the target by a long way.

The final score after the shoot-out was 2-0 to the Saints, sparking triumphant scenes as Brackley Town Ladies return to St James Park with the trophy.

Next up for Brackley Town Ladies.

The Ladies return to league action this Sunday when they visit Rushden & Diamonds with a chance to win the league. Islip Playing Fields, NN14 3LH, 2pm KO.

Then they have a second Cup Final on Sunday 18th May with the league cup final against Harpole at Steel Park, Corby, 2pm KO.

Congratulations Ladies!
